Oma am not a vegetarian. However, I am married to a man who does not eat meat. He is really not a vegetarian, because he doesn’t really like vegetables either! Therefore Oma is always on the hunt for new and EASY recipes to try.

Under 15 Minutes Quick and Easy Vegetarian Meals lived up to its title - the recipes were very quick and easy!  Oma really enjoyed the kid section and can not wait until Reef Indy is old enough to join in the cooking adventures.

Oma found this book is insightful and straightforward.  It is filled with tips and advice in regards to vegetarianism in a busy life.  The recipes Oma tried are very easy to make and very yummy - can't wait to try them all.

Reef Indy's New "Brain Bucket"

Although he does not look too thrilled, Reef Indy bought his first helmet today.

He might not be excited now; however once he realizes that he can do more skateboarding with Dad – Reef Indy will be enthusiastic!

Reef Indy Enjoys the New Water Park

San Diegans now have a new place to play – with a waterfront view, to boot. Reef Indy went to check out this new park and found the experience both enjoyable and exciting!

The new Waterfront Park spans twelve acres, eight of which used to be parking lots north and south of the Administration Center.

The space boasts large, open grassy areas, a playground, shaded sitting areas, gardens and an expansive interactive fountain. Being in Embarcadero, the park also has an unforgettable waterfront view that can only be seen in San Diego.

This park opened in May, and the water used is recirculated, treated to public swimming pool standards. On most days, the park is open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. About 1,500 to 2,000 people per day use the park, according to a San Diego County spokesman.

The park utilizes approximately 88,000 gallons of water and this has raised some recent controversy. The question was asked with this is the best use of resources given the area’s drought conditions.

Doesn't this look super fun!

Oma feels that the loss of water due to evaporation and general use is minor compared to the benefits received by the citizens.

Chasing Fireflies design your own costume contest

Oma loves to enter contests. However, here is a contest that Oma is not allowed to enter – it is for little people – age 3 to 12!

From August 1 , 2014 through August 24, 2014, Chasing Fireflies will be accepting submissions of an original idea for a new costume.  Could not get much more fun or exciting!

All eligible entries received will be judged based on originality, design and creativity by a panel of judges selected by the Sponsor.

GRAND PRIZE: One (1) grand prize winner will receive airfare for two (2) to Chasing Fireflies to meet with one of their designers, hotel for two (2) nights, a $300 Visa or comparable gift card, and construction of the winning design (total cost not to exceed $500)

Cameron Hughes Lot 409 2012 Central Coast Pinot Noir Great Price Great Taste

Oma was looking for some good but inexpensive wine for Oma and Opa’s Fortieth Wedding Anniversary. After all buying booze for sixty guests can get pretty pricey. 

So where to go . . . . . . honestly, Oma scoured through all the weekly advertised specials and kept an excel spreadsheet filled with bargains.

In the end, all alcoholic purchases were made at Cost-Co; they had the best price on everything.

Oma discovered a very tasty Cameron Hughes Lot 409 2012 Central Coast Pinot Noir.

Lot 409 is sourced from a variety of great vineyards along the Central Coast. This wine shows bright cherry and violets on the nose complemented by spice and plum. Soft tannins make for a long finish.

Like Oma said it was very yummy – and Oma received many compliments regarding this wine from her partygoers.

Best part – Cost-Co price was $8.99 a bottle!
What a delicious treasure.
