Reef Practicing on his Balance Bike

Reef Indy is starting to get it . . . his balance that is.

Most of us have learned how to ride a bicycle by using training wheels; however, training wheels leave out one very important element when it comes to mastering the skills of bike riding, balance! It is the inability to balance while riding a bike that makes it so challenging to transition from training wheels to a traditional two wheel bike.

Learning without Pedals
(Biking with Dad)

Scooting and Coasting the Bike

Dad is starting Reef off by scooting on his Balance Bike so that he can get the feel of balancing it. Since Reef has adepted to scooting on his bike, he is now being challenged to pick up his feet and coast.

Dad also hopped on his bike to demonstrate to Reef how to coast and ride. The plan is to gradually add more time as Reef gains confidence as he coasts with his feet up.

Reef & Julius Play

Tickling children is one of those customary kinds of play that is handed down from generation to generation. Everyone knows that all kids do what you do. One of Reef's favorite games is Tickle - Tickle. He loves when you chase him too.

Here the 19-Month-Old toddler taking over the role of Tickler and chasing his playmate Julius around the living room.

Reef Indy Learns to Swim

Getting Ready for Summer

Reef Indy, who is almost 19 months old, started swim lessons today. Jeff and Monica Noonan founded Noonan Family Swim School, Inc. in January of 2004. They seek to provide the BEST swimming and learning experience possible.

Reef was very reluctant at first. However, the half hour went quickly and Reef spent the last half of the class becoming more comfortable. He was able to relax and participate in the activities. Good Job Reef!  Good Job Mom!
