Fun Times at Sierra & Johnny's Wedding

Reef Indy really enjoyed the activities of Sierra and Johnny’s wedding.

He was even able to sit still . . . well pretty still during the ceremony. Of course Reefs’ favorite part of it all was playing with cousin Sofia and the other kids.

Family Birthday Fun at the Melting Pot

Amanda's Birthday Dinner at The Melting Pot

Family Birthday Fun at the Melting Pot

The Melting Pot Restaurant in La Jolla, California is a fun place to gather for an unique fine dining experience. They offer multi-course fondue dining, perfect Mom's Birthday celebration with friends and family!

Our waiter, John was pleasant, fun, friendly, attentive, and so very helpful.  Oh did I mention John is in a band!  This restaurant is a bit pricey, but the food was delightful and the fondue experience unique.

Oma ordered the Yin & Yang Martini. It really was the perfect balance; Godiva White Chocolate Liqueur, Stoli Vanil Vodka and ice cream topped with chocolate shavings!

Our only complaint was that the Melting Pot was not able to accommodate our party of fourteen at the same table.  Sitting at two separate tables muted our celebration a bit.

Hot Fun at the Pala Skatepark

Oma and Opa spent some time with Reef Indy at the Pala Skatepark.  Poor Reef was not feeling 100%; so he took a nap on his Opa.  It was a super hot day - in the upper 90's

Oma thought she had better practice her videography skills before grandson Reef Indy hits the bowls. Since opening in April 2008, the Pala Skatepark has been providing skateboarders with a safe, fun place to skateboard. The park was designed by award-winning skatepark designer Wally Hollyday and features rails, drops, ramps as well as a carved out bowl modeled after an abandoned pool that was a favorite of local skateboarders in the 80s and 90s.

Reef Indy's Split Pea Experience

Oma loves Split Pea Soup. Good thing, Reef Indy loves Split Pea Soup also. It is so easy to make and has many health benefits.

The first year of Reef Indy’s life brings tremendous changes in what he can eat. Around the age of six months, you should start introducing nutritious solid foods into your baby's diet. Serving your baby a variety of nutrient-dense foods during infancy ensures that he gets all of the nutrients he needs for growth and development.

More importantly, it sets the stage for a lifetime of healthy eating. Split peas supply your little one with many essential vitamins and minerals. It is fiber rich, and supplies the body Potassium and Vitamin K.

Oma and Opa quickly learned that when Reef hits his High-Chair tray, he is ready for another bite. When he loses interest in the experience, he has eaten enough!

Skate Park Moves Closer To Reality
Reef’s Dad's Community Involvement

The idea grew to fruition in October of 2013. What began as a small group of Valley Center residents trying to make a dream a reality, took on its own driving force within the community.

The people rallied together and with a temporary ramp is in place, the first fundraiser for the Valley Center Skate Park demonstrated what parental love can accomplish. “Come out to Support our Youth and Help Make Change Happen!” was the theme of the day.

If there were any doubts regarding the need for a skate park in Valley Center, the well-attended fundraiser proved there is a real thirst among the local skateboarding community. More than 300 people showed up for the all-day event to skate, win raffle prizes, and meet pro skaters like Jake Brown and Neal Mims.

The Valley Center Parks and Recreation District Board approved usage of the property under the condition that the skaters join an association or create a nonprofit by the end of the year to cover liability. It is estimated that $60,000 to $80,000 is needed to build the skate park.

Reef Indy’s Dad (Zack) is a devoted skateboarder. In the last four months, he has been dedicated to the progress of the Valley Center Skate Park. On 02/08/2014, they completed the second twelve-yard pour thanks to all the donators of time, money, and/or material.

“It has been a great experience to help with this Skate Park. We still have a lot more work to do, but one more pour and some pool coping and we will have a skate-able piece of concrete for the kids and of course, the adults!!!” Zack explained with a chuckle.

New Dad, and owner of Zack Smith Plumbing and Contracting, Zack has not only donated his time and money, but his construction expertise to this worthwhile project.

The Valley Center Skate Park is made possibly completely by donations! If anyone needs a donation sheet please let us know!!! You can email the author of this post at aellen@promotorsports1.com.

Your donations are tax-deductible. The Skate Park is not just for skaters! It has become a friendly a place to hang with friends and family.
