5:2 Diet And Training
February 2014 - Month 2

As promised, this is Oma’s monthly progress report regarding her advancement on the 5:2 diet. This month was not as successful as January.

Oma lost two (2) pounds
in the month of February 2014!

However, after checking back through the food journal – that two pound weight loss was truly a victory. First off – Oma was sick with a cold for two weeks. That made dieting and exercising almost impossible for half the month. Then after right after that, Oma and Opa spent four-fun-filled days in Laughlin, Nevada.

Habitually these typical ‘healthy life’ road blocks would have produced a weight gain. Therefore, Oma’s two-pound loss will be celebrated.

Oma started February by switching the 5:2 diet to the 4:3 version. However, due to the illness this test was not justly vetted. Therefore the 4:3 version of this intermittent fasting diet will be tested again in the future.

For March, the goals are to successfully maintain the 5:2 diet plan and return to a regular exercise program of a minimum of thirty minutes per day for at least four days. (Yes, Oma has been lagging in the exercise portion of this program )

See you next month with another '5:2 Diet with Training' update.

5:2 Diet And Training
January 2014 - Month 1

Just a quick update on Oma’s progress on the 5:2 Diet which started on 01/01/2014. Just as the majority of society, the notion of losing all that excess poundage quickly and without much effort had sabotaged all previous campaigns to obtain and maintain a healthy-flattering weight.

Reef Indy - the bouncing infant.
This year was different. This year, there was the Reef Indy stimulus and Oma desires to maintain the vigor and vitality to keep up with the bouncing infant.

Therefore this year, Oma was committed to go forth with a different assertiveness. The 5:2 Diet appeared to be the precise routine for a slow and sustainable lifestyle change goaled at that noble objective.

Every month, Oma will report back on her progress and whether or not the commitment would be extended another month.

Okay so first, the information that everyone wants to discover. Did Oma lose weight in the last thirty-one days?

Oma lost seven (7) pounds in the
month of January 2014!

While that loss is not “Biggest Loser” noteworthy – Oma is ecstatic!

January was strictly observed on the 5:2 diet. While it was not always easy; it really was not all that hard either! It is much easier giving up that homemade tostado if you can tell yourself that you only have to wait until the next day to satisfy that craving.

Also, Oma has never heard of a diet where she can enjoy an occasional glass of Maple Crown Royal and not be cheating!

The 5:2 diet appears to be assisting Oma in portion control on the non-fast days. Oma still enjoys her favorite foods; however she is sated by much less on her plate. Oma is also becoming more aware of the calories connected to the sustenance consumed.

Oma has upgraded her three days on the treadmill to:
  • two days on the treadmill;
  • at least two days of the 5:2 workouts;
  • at least two twenty-minute hikes per week.

This varied exercise program as proved to be much more engaging.

5:2 tip – remember to drink lots of water, every day. Oma strives to consume at least 100 ounces.

Be back next month with (hopefully) another uplifting 5:2 report. Please leave Oma a comment and let her know if you have tried this or another weight loss technique.

5:2 And Training by Niclas Brunnegård

Just in time to keep that New Year’s resolution you made to lose weight or live a healthier lifestyle- the 5:2 is a diet where you “fast” for 2 days and eat normally for 5 days; this is called “intermittent fasting” or sometimes “calorie restriction”. On a fasting day, you do get to eat, but within a restricted calorie amount.

Women should get about 500 calories and men about 600. Don’t worry! This seems like a small amount but I can attest that it is doable. You don’t need to fast for more than 2 days. 2 days is plenty. The next 5 days are all yours!

Oma's Review

This book was enjoyably easy to read and understand. What Oma love about this book is that the 5:2 Diet is not only about weight loss; it is about approved health.

Oma has been on this diet for a week. It is not easy, but appears to be a regimen that the average person can sustain over the necessary duration to witness one’s goal. There was even a special section in this eBook for us senior citizens!

Happy to report that in the first week, Oma lost a pound on the 5:2 Diet. A pound a week may not be earth shattering; however is a healthy and realistic weight loss strategy.

However, even better than the weight loss is that fact that the 5:2 Diet made Oma feel healthier and more energetic!

Be forewarned – the exercises are not easy and left Oma a tad sore. However, Oma found them to be challenging and enjoyed following the training routine. Oma needs to remain healthy in order to run after Reef Indy.

(Oma will continue to follow the 5:2 Diet for the month of January and then report the results via this blog.)

5:2 Diet & Workout
Oma’s Future?

Like almost everyone else, January 2 is the day of New Year’s Resolutions for Oma. In the past, the goal of weight-loss yielded non-existent results.

This year, Oma had decided to make 2014 more about improved health and relegated the weight-loss objective. After all, Oma has to be in good shape to keep up with Reef Indy!

Therefore it was auspicious that Oma received the fortuitous opportunity to read and review an eBook entitled “5:2 and Training” by Niclas Brunnegard. The goal of this eBook is to teach you to live longer and live healthier utilizing a modified “fast.” Weight-loss is an added benefit of following the program.

After reading the easy to understand document, Oma is only halfway through her first “fast” day. Consequently reviewing the eBook would proof premature. However, Oma can attest that the first exercise program (entitled 10-1) was tough. The half-hour, 10 pass of 3 exercises, took Oma an hour to accomplish, but Oma did it.

Hilariously, this first exercise program, had Oma missing her hour / 3.5 miles on the treadmill.

The eBook “5:2 and Training” will not be reviewed until after Oma’s Third “fast” day.

At that time, Oma will also be offering one lucky reader the opportunity to win a copy “5:2 and Training” by Niclas Brunnegard.

*** After finding himself having gained weight and no longer able to play his favorite sport, Niclas researched a method to lose weight and become healthy without many lifestyle changes. The 5:2 diet changed his life!

This eBook comes from rigorous studies in the science behind Michael Mosley’s 5:2 diet plan.
