Children Picture Book Animals Tails Review #KidsBook

Animal’s Tails by Dan Jackson

This is a cute eBook, geared towards children and is all about the many uses of an animal’s tails! The photography is stunning and descriptive in a way words fail.   This book is perfect to help your little student learn about animals.

The fox curls up and covers its nose with its tail to keep warm.

Honestly, this book even taught Oma a few things. For example, Oma did not know:

In cold weather, fox generally curls up and covers its nose and paws with its tail to keep its body warm. When the fox climbs hills, it can balance its weight with the tail.

My grandson, Reed Indy loves animals the most. For just $2.99, Animal’s Tails by Dan Jackson would be a great addition to any eLibrary.

Off the Edge of the Map: Marco Polo, . . .
Book Review

Disclosure: I got this product as part of an advertorial.

For as long as Oma can remember, history and non-fiction books have been a passion. It has been said that he who controls the past controls the future. We are the sum of all our bygone events--good, bad, and indifferent!

“Off the Edge of the Map: Marco Polo, Captain Cook, and 9 Other Travelers and Explorers That Pushed the Boundaries of the Known World” is from the #1 bestselling author of History's Greatest Generals comes an exciting new paperback book on the greatest explorers in history and how their discoveries shaped the modern world, Michael Rank.

Whether it is Rabban Bar Sauma, the 13th-century Chinese monk commissioned by the Mongols to travel to Europe and form a military alliance against the Islamic Caliphate; Marco Polo, who opened a window to the East for the West; or Captain James Cook, whose maritime voyages of discovery created the global economy of the 21st century, each of these explorers had an indelible impact on the modern world.

This book will look at the 11 greatest explorers in history. Some travelled for religious piety, such as Ibn Battuta, who travelled from North Africa to China in the 1300s, visiting every Islamic pilgrimage site between. Others travelled for profit, such as Ferdinand Magellan, who wanted to consolidate Spain's holdings on the spice trade. Still others travelled for discovery, such as Ernest Shackleton, who led two dozen men to the bottom of the world in an attempt to cross Antarctica on foot.

Whatever their reason for discovery, these explorers still inspire us today to push the limits of human achievement -- and discover something about ourselves in the process.

Oma found "Off the Edge of the Map: Marco Polo, Captain Cook, and 9 Other Travelers and Explorers That Pushed the Boundaries of the Known World" a very easy book to read which riveted the reader’s attention.

Chapter 11, about Neil Armstrong, was Oma’s favorite chapter for several reasons. However, the most important one was the fact this this was a piece of history personally witnessed. Armstrong, an American Astronaut, was the first person to walk on the Moon. Oma can still remember the excitement of the accomplishment.

If you love the adventure of history, this collection by Michael Rank is well worth your reading time.

WEDDING DREAMS
A Motivational Photography Book
EBook Review

Disclosure: I got this product as part of an advertorial.

WEDDING DREAMS - A Motivational Photography Book by Suzy Liebermann

Reef Indy’s parent’s wedding is rapidly approaching. Swept up in all the hustle, bustle and excitement of this joyous occasion, Oma is always on the lookout for marriage related items. (just check out Oma’s Pewter with Ivory Inlay Enamel Cross Statue Review)

Therefore Oma was pleased to have the opportunity to review WEDDING DREAMS - A Motivational Photography Book by Suzy Liebermann

WEDDING DREAMS is a MOTIVATIONAL PHOTOGRAPHY BOOK created for your inspiration and daily meditation. Phantasize about a dream wedding while enjoying motivational quotes.

This book is just nineteen pages long. However, Oma found it very refreshing. While the photos and quotes are wedding oriented, they were also a wonderful reminder of what is important to maintaining a satisfying marriage.

“Marriage is like life itself a great,
wonderful adventure”

This book would make a fantastic wedding gift and also a great gift to give to someone for the marriage anniversary.

After rain - there is sunshine
after a tear - comes a smile
even if you have to wait

Review

Oma’s Pros:

This book was very easy to read and fast-paced; which Oma just loves. It was very much like reading a TV script – entertaining.

Oma’s Cons:

Oma had difficulty relating to the characters. Therefore, focus proved problematic.

5:2 And Training by Niclas Brunnegård

Just in time to keep that New Year’s resolution you made to lose weight or live a healthier lifestyle- the 5:2 is a diet where you “fast” for 2 days and eat normally for 5 days; this is called “intermittent fasting” or sometimes “calorie restriction”. On a fasting day, you do get to eat, but within a restricted calorie amount.

Women should get about 500 calories and men about 600. Don’t worry! This seems like a small amount but I can attest that it is doable. You don’t need to fast for more than 2 days. 2 days is plenty. The next 5 days are all yours!

Oma's Review

This book was enjoyably easy to read and understand. What Oma love about this book is that the 5:2 Diet is not only about weight loss; it is about approved health.

Oma has been on this diet for a week. It is not easy, but appears to be a regimen that the average person can sustain over the necessary duration to witness one’s goal. There was even a special section in this eBook for us senior citizens!

Happy to report that in the first week, Oma lost a pound on the 5:2 Diet. A pound a week may not be earth shattering; however is a healthy and realistic weight loss strategy.

However, even better than the weight loss is that fact that the 5:2 Diet made Oma feel healthier and more energetic!

Be forewarned – the exercises are not easy and left Oma a tad sore. However, Oma found them to be challenging and enjoyed following the training routine. Oma needs to remain healthy in order to run after Reef Indy.

(Oma will continue to follow the 5:2 Diet for the month of January and then report the results via this blog.)

5:2 Diet & Workout
Oma’s Future?

Like almost everyone else, January 2 is the day of New Year’s Resolutions for Oma. In the past, the goal of weight-loss yielded non-existent results.

This year, Oma had decided to make 2014 more about improved health and relegated the weight-loss objective. After all, Oma has to be in good shape to keep up with Reef Indy!

Therefore it was auspicious that Oma received the fortuitous opportunity to read and review an eBook entitled “5:2 and Training” by Niclas Brunnegard. The goal of this eBook is to teach you to live longer and live healthier utilizing a modified “fast.” Weight-loss is an added benefit of following the program.

After reading the easy to understand document, Oma is only halfway through her first “fast” day. Consequently reviewing the eBook would proof premature. However, Oma can attest that the first exercise program (entitled 10-1) was tough. The half-hour, 10 pass of 3 exercises, took Oma an hour to accomplish, but Oma did it.

Hilariously, this first exercise program, had Oma missing her hour / 3.5 miles on the treadmill.

The eBook “5:2 and Training” will not be reviewed until after Oma’s Third “fast” day.

At that time, Oma will also be offering one lucky reader the opportunity to win a copy “5:2 and Training” by Niclas Brunnegard.

*** After finding himself having gained weight and no longer able to play his favorite sport, Niclas researched a method to lose weight and become healthy without many lifestyle changes. The 5:2 diet changed his life!

This eBook comes from rigorous studies in the science behind Michael Mosley’s 5:2 diet plan.

Lost Civilizations – 10 Societies that
Vanished Without a Trace Review

Disclosure: I got this product as part of an advertorial.

Michael Rank’s “Lost Civilizations – 10 Societies that Vanished Without a Trace”
Oma just loves reading about history. History is a means to understand both the past and present. It supports the foundation of an informed tomorrow!

When the opportunity presented itself to read and review Michael Rank’s “Lost Civilizations – 10 Societies that Vanished Without a Trace” Oma happily accepted the challenge.

The book title leads the reader to believe this book to be an arid textbook. However, nothing could be further from the truth. The short ninety-five page book is handily organized into ten chapters; one chapter on each of the Lost Civilizations explored.

This book discusses the cultures of the ten greatest lost civilizations in history. Some were millennia ahead their neighbors, such as the Indus Valley Civilization, which had better city planning in 3,000 B.C. than any European capital in the 18th century. Others left behind baffling mysteries, such as the Ancient Pueblo Peoples (formerly known as the Anasazi), whose cliff-dwelling houses were so inaccessible that every member of society would have to be an expert-level rock climber.

Michael Rank’s “Lost Civilizations – 10 Societies that Vanished Without a Trace” is a quick read divided into bite-size analysis of not only the civilization lost but the possible explanations for their disappearance.

My only negative comment would be this book’s lacked illustration. As a personal preference, Oma would have savored some drawings, photographs, and/or maps to augment the fascinating historical tales.

If you appreciate a good mystery surrounded by history – you will love Michael Rank’s “Lost Civilizations – 10 Societies that Vanished Without a Trace” as much as Oma did.

“Sweeping” Is No Longer What Your Crazy Grandmother Does

BOOK REVIEW:  Sweepstakes MILLIONAIRE:
How to Win a Life of Luxury through Sweepstakes

“Sweeping” is no longer what that crazy grandmother down the street does. With the advent of online sweepstakes, the participants of this lucrative “hobby” have averaged out much younger in the last 10 years.

Point in fact, this Oma started her hobby as a sweeper in 2008 at the age of 53*. As my participation in the hobby grew, Oma has noticed that a lot of her sweeps friends and acquaintances are forty years of age or younger! It is Oma’s personal belief that the emergence of Mommy Blogs** has propagated this trend.

This weekend Oma had the opportunity to read a paperback book entitled “Sweepstakes Millionaire” by Johnathan Wyka-Warzecha.

Opa and Oma pose in front of Buckingham Palace
Enjoying Their Free Vacation (August 2009).
Oma considers herself an accomplished “sweeper.” I have won many trips, including a vacation to England. My biggest win was from Sears. They outfitted Oma’s kitchen with Energy Saving Appliances: a refrigerator, double oven, cook top AND dishwasher! (ARV $10,000).

If you do not know what ARV stands for, you need to purchase this book. It closes with a handy “Glossary of Terms” (ARV = Approximate Retail Value).

Although not a newcomer to Sweepstakes, Oma found this fun paperback book chocked full of useful information. It is the perfect gift for a Sweepstakes Newbie or that Sweepstakes Expert. The book was easy to read and organized so that the reader can easily locate the section most pertinent to the task they were attempting.

My favorite part of the book was the interesting testimonials from actual sweepstakes winners. Oma wished that there were more such stories and that the accounts contained more details to motivate people to this exciting and rewarding hobby. A few photos would have really enhanced the testimonial experience as well.

Another must read chapter if you wish to experience the thrill of winning a sweepstakes is Chapter 3 – How to increase your chances of winning sweepstakes. It offered priceless advice which covered Online Sweepstakes, Video Sweepstakes, Instant Win Sweepstakes, Mail-In Sweepstakes, In-Store Sweepstakes, and Computer Game Contests. Who would have thought that there were so many different types of sweepstakes and that each had its own strategy.

If you have ever thought of investing your time to enter and win sweepstakes, Oma urges you to read this book. It will provide you with the information needed to start winning quickly. It took Oma years to gather this insight!

You can find this book by clicking here.

As a blogger, my integrity is one of the most valuable things Oma owns. Therefore, reviews will contain both positive and negative aspects as is appropriate. To put it in a simpler manner, this review is meant to help my readers (editorial) more than to help a brand (advertising).

However, it should be noted that Oma was given a copy of Sweepstakes MILLIONAIRE: How to Win a Life of Luxury through Sweepstakes to read and review.
